When one just starts to explore stock markets, his first question is obviously, how to determine which stocks to buy? Moneyvidya can help you in choosing that of course, with day trading tips, positional tips and long term investment picks on BSE as well as NSE.

You always also have this second question in mind. Why there are 2 exchanges in India? Why there are 2 indexes (Sensex & Nifty)? Does it really matter? Why should someone trade in one place, or the other?.

Let’s see the differences and similarities in them.

1.	What is BSE? – BSE is a very old stock exchange, founded in 1875

2.	What is NSE? – NSE is newer kid on the block (founded in 1994)

3.	NSE has a more sophisticated technology, being the newer entrant

4.	BSE has more number of stocks listed (World no – 1, around 8000 companies listed) and more total market cap than NSE.

5.	BSE has much more number of midcap, smallcap and penny stocks listed. So, if you are interested in high risk-high return, low volume trades of penny stocks, BSE is the place to be at.

6.	NSE has a lot more turnover, or transactions going on than BSE.

7. If derivatives is your area of interest, you can’t rely on BSE. Practically, NSE is the only player in derivatives.

8.	BSE has the famous primary index, Sensex, formed by top 30 shares.

9.	What is Nifty? – Nifty is the primary index of NSE – weighted avg. of 50 blue chip shares, formed in 1995

10.	Even though Nifty has more companies than Sensex, their movements are almost always correlated.

11.	Index funds mostly track themselves against Nifty, as NSE has more volumes

12.	Generally speaking, NSE has gained a lot of ground in last 10 years, and BSE is lagging behind.

13.	You can use the difference in quotes to buy at one exchange and sell at the other quickly, to make small amounts. This is called “Arbitrage Trading”.

Where should I trade? If you want to play in small cap stocks, BSE offers much more opportunity. For all other purposes, like regular retail investment, and also derivative trading, NSE is the place to trade.

For a retail investor, it does not matter much. In general, the thumb rule for cash segment (regular delivery trades) is you check if the stock is listed at NSE, if yes, buy it on NSE, else buy on BSE. The minor difference in quote won’t matter for most practical purposes. The quote that you see in your trading platform, and the actual price that you get delivery for, might be slightly different, especially for low volume mid cap stocks. What matter more, is what stocks you buy!

Moneyvidya.com is an Indian startup that helps you choose the best stock tips. It is done by tracking the performance of all the stock tips on several parameters like profits and consistency.

The need to send money to India in order to help support family members is quite regular. In fact, this nation is constantly at or near the top of the list of countries that receive the most funds in remittances each year. If you are interested in learning more little-known facts regarding remittances to the country, read on.

In 2005, India topped the record of most remittances for the year at just over $24 billion. China and Mexico were the following two nations on the listing. In 2008, it once again beat out China and Mexico with around $45 billion in remittances. Though clearly India is a very popular nation to send money to, it was not always this way. In 1990, just roughly $2 billion was transferred to the nation, a number that has risen slowly every year for almost two decades. In 1996, it equaled more than $12 billion, climbing to almost $22 billion in 2003.

Of course, the importance of the ability to send money to India has amplified in the last 20 years, as well. This is because the GDP now relies on the money remitted, as so many citizens use it to live their daily lives. In 1990, when transfers were much smaller than they currently are, they built up less than one percent of the GDP. In 1995, this amount rose to over three percent, and has stayed near that amount since then. Unfortunately, the number of people who send money to India is expected to drop by about seven percent as of 2009.

Despite the fact that the amount, of people who send money to India has indeed declined a bit since 2008, it has so far not decreased quite as much as some experts predicted. This may be because more Indian immigrants are nervous about losing their money, so they transfer it to the slightly more stable Indian market. Also, it is clear that relatives in India that get used to living off remittances still need help with their everyday expenses, so relatives living in the United States are likely to still help them as much as possible. This means that if you have to send money to India, you will not be alone.

Fortunately, the same transfer, selections, as before are still available. You can send money to India using standard pathways like a bank or money transfer agencies, or you can opt to use more technology-driven methods, such as a prepaid debit card. The more you learn about remittances to the area, the easier it will be to select the best way for you to send money to India.

Gold is the money people turn to in times of inflation and economic turmoil. Gold is a means of hedging against inflation. If you are thinking at this moment that gold is not money, but rather a yellow metallic decoration that people adorn themselves with, then you are incorrect.

Gold has been a unit of exchange for nearly 6,000 years. Gold and silver were historically the first relied upon money that agreed with the standards of good money. Aristotle spoke of reliable money to have the following characteristics.

1.	The ability to be durable. It must stand the test of time and not wither.

2.	The ability to be portable. Good money needs to hold value in a small space.

3.	The ability to be divisible. Real money should have the ability to be divided evenly and still hold its value. Also known as fungibility. Diamnonds are not fungible because each diamond has it’s own value.

4.	It must hold a rare value or quality.

Aristotle knew something that most modern day people have no clue about. Fiat paper currencies around the world do not match the standards of good money put forth by Aristotle and his predecessor Plato.

Paper has no intrinsic value because it’s paper. It can be produced on demand. There is no rarity or durability.. The only thing giving value to paper money is the trust that we put into it.

A piece of paper with inked stamped all over it is essentially what our dollar is. That’s it. If someone told you they would give you a sheet of paper for a pack of gum, it is equivalent to what our dollar is. There is no difference between the two, and that is where many get confused.

If someone gave you some oil, copper, silver, or gold in exchange for a pack of gum, then the transaction makes sense. Those are real assets. Someone’s hard work and time went into producing those assets, so they hold a real value.

Our dollars become more worthless every day as our government prints dollars out of existence. A dollar collapse is happening in plain sight, yet few will recongnize the signs before it is too late. Gold and silver were used as the first real currency for this very reason. Gold and silver cannot be mass produced at will.

Mining companies have to put lots of money and resources to even get close to producing any gold or silver. Energy and time is consumed in this process. Paper currency is a relatively new thing in world history. Since the start of using paper as currency, and there have been hundreds, all of them have failed.

Gold and silver coins have proven throughout history to hold their value and hedge against inflation. While fiat paper currencies plummet, gold will continue going to the moon.

Gold is in the middle of a 20 year bull market, and the dollar will continue to plummet. The most recent gold high is around $1,100/ounce. Inflation means that people will flock to gold. Why do they do this? Gold cannot be printed or inflated. What does that even mean?

Pretend you are inflating a balloon. The balloon gets so big that it sometimes bursts. Our government is inflating our dollars in much the same way. Our government is putting massive amounts of money into circulation. When you have more and more dollars chasing the same level of goods, you have inflation.

Inflation means printing more money, it does not mean prices have risen. The result of printing more money is high prices. The best advice I have heard is to get out of dollar related assets before it is too late.

Gold, silver, gold bullion, silver bullion, and mining stocks should be in your investment portfolio right now. China, India, and Arab nations are currently getting out of dollars and into gold. Is it time for you to do the same?

God bless.

Brazil is emerging from the crisis, and next year we are going to have surprising growth President Lula da Silva said last month. A bold but not inaccurate statement. There is evidence to advocate that Brazil will be one of the first economies to recover from the economic slump in an emphatic manner. The OECD is predicting 4% economic growth for Brazil in 2010.

It has been announced that the US is to provide as much as $10 billion (6 billion) in financing to go towards the development of oil fields off the Brazilian coast.US national security adviser General James Jones has been visiting the Latin American country this week and Brazilian planning minister Paulo Bernardo da Silva said that the US Export-Import Bank has now signed an agreement with energy giant Petrobras to finance exploration of the vast deepwater reserves that it is developing with a five-year, $174 billion investment program. The goal is to more than double Brazil’s production, to 3.5 million barrels a day, by 2012, making the country a top oil exporter, and increasing the wealth in the country immensely.

The growing middle classes and consequent increasing domestic consumption of the BRIC nations is creating greater demand for exports. While US consumers continue to tighten their purse strings, Brazil, Russia, India and China will be responsible for around 50% of worldwide export demand.

The 2014 World Cup has resulted in a Government programme of expenditure, in excess of $250 million on roads, airports, power generation and sanitation coupled with a huge spend on tourism that has resulted in international tourists increasing year on year from 1.9 million in 1995, to in excess of 5.2 million in 2008.

With residential mortgages only accounting for 2.5% of Brazils GDP (figures supplied by the Banco Central do Brasil), the market has huge room for expansion. To give an example, residential mortgage levels in other countries are 11% in Mexico, 20% in Chile, 45% in Spain and as much as 68% in the US. Despite the current worldwide financial crisis, mortgage lending in Brazil has risen by 41% in the last year, twice as fast as consumer credit. Caixa Economica Federal, the state-owned bank, expects to lend R$26 billion for real estate purchases in 2009 compared to its average of R$5 billion four years ago. The bank has lent R$19 billion already this year.

Brazils economy is worth $1.5 trillion, yet exports only represent 12% of this. Its population of 190 million is seeing a boom in the middle classes, which now make up more than half its population. With their increased buying power, Brazilians are buying more food, more clothing and more household goods than ever before. Sales figures for Whirlpool, which has a 40% share of Brazils appliance market, were 20% higher in May and June 2009 compared to a year earlier. Though this has been partially fuelled by tax incentives, which are due to end in October, sales are expected to remain strong. “Over the next five years, we’ll see a doubling of sales of durable goods in Brazil,” says Jos Roberto Tambasco, vice-president for operations at Po de Acar. In preparation to meet the increased demand for white goods, the supermarket giant recently paid $422 million for the appliance retailer Ponto Frio which has a network of 458 stores nationwide.
